The municipality of Sandviken carried out a major accessibility initiative. Part of the work was to replace its existing templates with new accessible templates. At the same time, the municipality moved from the client version of Word and PowerPoint to the online version. As always, we at Rehngruppen were on hand to share our expertise in template management and accessibility.
We faced two main challenges. First, a thorough mapping of all existing templates was required. Firstly, to review how the templates are used and identify new needs, and secondly to facilitate an efficient transition of the large number of templates. In addition, all templates needed to be adapted to comply with accessibility requirements.
Our 365|TemplateExtender tool became the solution that enabled the smooth distribution of updated and accessibility-adapted templates. Through a thorough and close collaboration with the customer, we created professional and customized templates that meet accessibility requirements. The templates were adapted to the online version of Word. Since they were published in a cloud-based solution, all employees now have easy access to the templates from their computers, tablets and mobiles.
With the help of 365|TemplateExtender, the municipality of Sandviken can easily access their templates themselves, via their own administration portal. They have an overview of their templates, and can easily make updates. Since it is cloud-based, the templates are updated directly for all users. It also means they can add smart features (such as icon or image libraries) whenever they want.
