HSB wanted to collect and compare quotes from multiple banks in a simpler way. We built a tool that automatically retrieves all interest rate data and generates a professional-looking PDF to send to each association.
Automate your reportsLearn more about our Office templatesHSB is Sweden’s largest housing cooperative, with operations throughout the country. The organization plans, builds, and manages housing for both condominiums and rental units, with a clear focus on long-term planning and sustainability. Through its member-owned structure and strong local commitment, HSB creates safe and pleasant living environments where people want to live and thrive.
Construction and Real Estate
HSB helps housing cooperatives across the country with financing. Every time they renegotiate a loan, they need to gather quotes from multiple banks and analyze interest rates, terms, and lock-in periods. This used to be a time-consuming process that involved a lot of manual work. HSB needed a tool that would make it easy to import, compare, and compile the information while reducing the risk of errors.
We built a solution in Excel using Power Query that automatically retrieves interest rates from each bank, matches the data to the correct housing association, and compiles the results. The tool clearly shows which banks have submitted quotes, current interest rates, and debt levels, and generates reports ready to be forwarded to each association.

The Excel model is entirely driven by logic and named cells, making it both stable and easy to maintain. Quote files from multiple banks are automatically imported and compiled by association, including information on interest rates, outstanding balances, and fixed-rate periods. Any discrepancies are immediately flagged in the model, and users can export ready-to-use reports with a single click for presentation or distribution.

The result is a neat PDF that shows which loans need to be renegotiated, the association’s complete loan profile, and a table listing the interest rates offered by the banks for all interest rate periods. It’s also possible to export PDF reports for all housing associations with the click of a button. The solution saves time, reduces the risk of errors, and makes it easy for HSB to keep track of all associations’ loan overviews. What used to take hours is now done in a few minutes.
