Commission:

Electrolux wanted our popular solution to quarterly reporting and tables: Excel2Word. This feature is a flexible solution for seamless transfers between Excel and Word. Electrolux also wanted our similar tool Excel2PowerPoint.

Electrolux wanted a solution for their quarterly reporting. The goal was to reduce hand-laying and generally make it easier to work with reports and tables. Interim reporting for large companies such as Electrolux often includes a lot of data to be collected and processed and then reported in a large number of tables.

Electrolux also sought a solution that would make it easy to use tables and data to use in PowerPoint, which was used to present the company's performance quarterly.

Challenge:

Electrolux wanted space for the implementation of so-called AARO formulas, which collect data from this system.

Solution:

The solution includes a set of tables used in the customer's interim reports, where period headings and translations are fully automated by means of formulas. These formulas are fully dynamic; in other words, the period and language are selected once, and all tables are adapted based on this selection. This results in a simplification of the work process, where the main work was done during the creation of the tables. In addition, controlling these parameters from one place makes it easier for new users to quickly start working in the solution.

In addition to the period and language solution, we also chose to simplify and automate the data retrieval process for the tables. Electrolux uses AARO as an ERP system, which is an example of an ERP system that can be controlled using retrieve formulas. These retrieve formulas are used to retrieve data for a specific account based on given parameters such as period, account, and currency in which the value is reported. In a similar way that period headers were automated, we also created dynamic period headers for the data retrieval, which meant that no additional steps had to be taken to retrieve the data. In the end, only a few button clicks are required to prepare the report for the next quarter's work.

There was also a desire to be able to extract information in tables and charts that were more suited to a PowerPoint presentation. In the same way as with tables adapted for the report itself, we set up a solution for this. To avoid any deviation from the intended simplification of the work process, the same heading solution as for tables and data collection was adopted. In the end, the PPT-customized tables and charts could easily be inserted with a button click into the default PowerPoint, using our product Excel2PowerPoint.
