JB Travel collected emissions data for flights and hotels from various sources. All processing was manual, time consuming and prone to errors. In addition, they lacked an easy way to deliver customer-specific reports.
To meet customers' needs for clear travel statistics, a solution was needed that automated collection, analysis and visualization.


We built a model that automatically retrieves and processes data via PowerQuery. Using VBA, JB Travel was able to export both PDF reports with charts and Excel tables with selected customer data. The model also includes a pivot table for flexible analysis and comparison against averages.

Emissions data for flights and hotels came from different sources and required extensive manual processing. The process was time-consuming, error-prone and made it difficult to deliver customer-specific statistics quickly. JB Travel also lacked an easy way to produce reports and visualizations for individual customers.
We developed an automated Excel model that uses PowerQuery to collect and process data from multiple source files. JB Travel now only needs to update its files in a specific folder - the rest is done automatically.

Tabular view with summarized data per customer, including total costs, sales, service fees, number of trips and changes. This structure is the basis for automated analysis and reports in the Excel model.

Displays a visual summary of travel data for a specific customer, including costs, carbon emissions, number of trips and booking changes. The graphs compare the customer's figures with the average for all JB Travel customers, giving a clear overview of travel patterns and sustainability impact.

Compilation of the three data files used in the model: transportation and hotel emissions data and monthly service charges. PowerQuery automatically retrieves and processes these sources when the files are updated.
