Commission:

Asplund needed an interactive price list with functionality to easily edit and enter new products. Today they worked in Indesign, which means that each update brought extensive change to the entire document, which needed to be done manually. The work was time consuming and lacked automation.

Challenge:

All products needed to have different attributes, such as color, dimensions and materials, and these would be easy to update. In addition, the list needed to be printed, in its entirety or parts of it. The customer also wanted all this to be controlled from a menu. The customer wanted to switch to Excel from Indesign, and with that we saw the opportunity to expand the solution with, among other things, an image function so that every component of the list could be managed in a single file.

Solution:

With the help of some clever VBA programming, we created a solution that uses so-called Userforms to input products, adjust prices, and select printing. Even users with less knowledge in Excel could now use the solution because the ribbon made the solution intuitive and clear. The price list can also be exported in whole or in part as a PDF. The PDF pages, in turn, are generated from a master page using various formulas that retrieve input and information about products included in the selected printout.

The solution provided the desired ease of use and a security for the user because they do not need advanced knowledge to use the solution or adjust products.
