Heading two

A reporting process in separate systems

Sinch previously worked with a reporting process where different parts were produced in separate systems. Group Accounting was responsible for the back end and handled all the financial data, while the front end was produced by an external consultant in InDesign. This meant that figures, tables and text had to be transferred manually and compiled from several sources. The approach worked, but required a lot of coordination and meant that data flows and layout production were kept separate throughout the process.

Heading two

Two production tracks that must become a single final product

In preparation for the annual report, it became clear that Sinch wanted a more streamlined flow. Group Accounting also needed a more efficient way to manage data internally, without relying on external steps or manual transfer. There was a need to simplify the process, while not compromising on the visual quality of InDesign.

Heading three

A data-driven and automated rear trolley

We developed a back-end with our Excel2Word solution that provided Sinch with a stable and automated way to manage all report data. By structuring figures and tables directly in Excel and linking them to Word, we reduced the number of manual steps and created a secure data source. In parallel, the external consultant was able to continue producing the front end in InDesign. Thanks to clear templates, common guidelines and a coordinated process, the material was integrated seamlessly. We also created an interim report and a PowerPoint template for Sinch before working on the annual report, to create a consistent basis for the entire reporting chain.

Heading four

Secure and consistent report delivery

The new working model gave Sinch a much more secure and efficient reporting process. Group Accounting gained full control over all data, the risk of incorrect figures was minimized, and the work could be kept in-house without dependence on external resources for the back carriage. The front carriage and the back carriage can be combined into a unified end product where you cannot see that different programs have been used. The end result is a neat whole, a more secure data flow and a process that both saves time and makes work less vulnerable.
